As you may know, DTI Community is a worldwide community of ambassadors, alumni, friends and volunteers engaged to increase awareness and volunteer and philanthropic commitment to Donation and Transplantation Institute (DTI).
We believe that sharing knowledge between doctors, nurses and the general population about the best practices of organ donation and transplantation is the most effective way to achieve self-sufficiency in this field. Once again, education is key.
More than 15.000 TPM Alumni from all five continents have enrolled in the Transplant Procurement Management courses that DTI offers. From DTI Community, we want to promote equality of access and opportunity for organ donation and transplant. We are committed to bringing the best practices for organ donation to under-resourced countries, because we believe that together we are stronger. To achieve this last year we created a crowdfunding campaign called “Save 1 million lives”.
So far, two students have been granted with this scholarship that allowed them to come to Barcelona and being trained at the TPM Advanced Courses (Spanish and English) and did an internship at the Transplant Coordination offices in Hospital Clinic and Hospital Bellvitge. Dr. Oeding, from Barranquilla, Colombia, is an Intensive Care doctor and has already planned out a strategy alongside transplants coordinators from the region to start to implement the best practices in organ donation and transplant. Dr. Panche, from Goa, India, has been named Regional Transplant Coordinator short after graduating from the TPM course.
