We are delighted to inform our friends and colleagues that during the 13th Competent Authority Meeting on Organ Donation and Transplantation, held on April 5 – 6, 2017, the Training and social awareness for increasing organ donation in the European Union and neighbouring countries (EUDONORGAN) initiative was presented by the project team.
EUDONORGAN, is a service contract awarded by the European Commission on the initiative of the European Parliament. It was launched in September 2016 and will last for 36 months. The main objective of the project is to provide training and increase social awareness in the European Union and neighbouring countries with the ultimate aim of creating a strong community of advocates in organ donation and increasing the number of organ donors.
The meeting was hosted by the European Commission and presided by the team DG Sante Unit B4 – Substances of Human Origin Team. Representatives from the Council of Europe and WHO were also present. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Competent Authorities of the Member States and neighbouring countries of the European Union.
The support of all Competent Authorities and their cooperation was highlighted as essential for a maximized impact of EUDONORGAN.
